Tastio Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Tastio ("Tastio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Tastio point-of-sale applications, including the Tastio POS Android app, and related Tastio services.
Information we collect
- Account and business information: name, email address, telephone number, login and authentication information, business name, store details, employee or cashier profile, role, and account preferences.
- Point-of-sale and customer information: orders, products, payments and refunds, receipts, loyalty activity, customer contact details entered by a merchant, and other records needed to operate a store. Payment-card data is handled by integrated payment providers; Tastio does not store full payment-card numbers in the app.
- Compliance and identity information: when an authorized merchant uses ID-scanning or regulated-inventory features, the app may process barcode data and identity fields such as name, date of birth, address, and document details for age or regulatory compliance.
- Device and diagnostic information: an app-install identifier, station and device configuration, IP address, app and operating-system version, connectivity status, hardware capabilities, crash details, logs, and related troubleshooting information.
- Information from integrations: information returned by services that a business connects to Tastio, including payment processors, Google sign-in, delivery, communications, and regulated-inventory providers.
Device permissions
The app requests permissions only when needed for enabled features. Camera access supports barcode, QR-code, and ID scanning. Bluetooth, nearby-device, Wi-Fi, and location permissions support payment readers, printers, and other nearby store hardware. Biometric sign-in uses the device's protected passkey or biometric system; Tastio does not receive fingerprint or face templates. Some integrated device or payment SDKs may require microphone or phone-state permission, but Tastio does not use the app to record voice calls or conversations.
How we use information
- Provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Tastio service.
- Authenticate users and enforce tenant, store, cashier, and device permissions.
- Process orders and payments, synchronize offline activity, print receipts and tickets, and support merchant-selected integrations.
- Meet tax, accounting, age-verification, fraud-prevention, and other legal or regulatory obligations.
- Communicate about the service and improve product reliability and functionality.
How we disclose information
We disclose information to the business or organization that provides your Tastio account; to service providers that host, secure, support, or deliver the service; and to integrations selected by the business, such as Stripe, Square, Google, delivery services, or compliance providers. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a corporate transaction. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising.
Data retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal, tax, payment, and regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention depends on the data type and the business's configuration. You may request deletion of your Tastio account and associated personal information by following the instructions on our account deletion page. Some transaction, compliance, security, or business records may be retained where required by law or the merchant that controls those records.
Your choices
You may update certain account information in the service, control optional device permissions in Android settings, disconnect supported integrations, or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion. If your account is managed by a business, that business may be the controller of your information and may need to handle your request.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Tastio is a business point-of-sale service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. We will post the updated policy here and revise the effective date.
